1. make sure swiper is a magtek or comptible usb swiper and is set to keyboard mode.

Keyboard mode can be enabled for magtek swipers in Nova’s Settings by clicking

“Card Reader Drivers”.

2. Make sure the device is connected to usb and has a green light.
